Healthy life behaviors in nurses: comparison of intensive care nurses and floor nurses (A case of study public hospital)

Abstract (EN)
Nurses who produce and provide health services need to direct their attitudes and behaviors in protecting and improving their own health. The aim of this research is to compare the floor nurses and intensive care nurses in terms of healthy lifestyle behaviors. The research also used a screening model to compare the views of intensive care nurses and floor nurses with descriptive analysis. The universe of the research is composed of 753 nurses in I.U. Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine with intensive care unit and floor nursing. The sample group of the study was identified as 40 intensive care nurses and 60 nurses. Two different question forms were used in the research. These questionnaires are "Personal Information Form" and "Healthy Life Style Behavior Scale". The research was conducted between April 1 and August 30, 2016, to be recorded directly on the internet via the iPad given to the nurses. As a result of research, healthy lifestyle behaviors of floor nurses are higher than intensive care nurses. Healthy lifestyle behaviors of nurses over 36 years of age are lower than nurses between the ages of 18-25 and 26-35. Healthy lifestyle behaviors of nurses with children were found to be low compared to non-nursing nurses. At the end of the research, the development of working hours and systems in hospitals to support healthy life, the provision of nurses stress management, in-service training in nutrition and exercise fields were developed.
