Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted in order to determine the effect of delirium training given to intensive care nurses on their knowledge levels. The research was conducted semi-experimentally as a pre-test and post-test. The universe of the research was composed of nurses working in the intensive care units of the training and research hospital in Istanbul province between dates September 2022-October 2022. The research sample consisted of 69 intensive care nurses who met the criteria for inclusion of the research. The research data were obtained with "the Descriptive Information Form" and "Delirium Management Information and Application Form". A face-to-face interview was conducted with the nurses for 2 weeks by conducting planned training with the pre-test -post-test data collection tool. The data were analyzed with the SPSS for Windows 26.0 package program. Of the nurses participating in the study, 78.3% were women, 56.5% were 26 years old and over, and 75.4% had a bachelor's degree. It was determined that 39.1% of the nurses participating in the study worked between 2-5 years in the unit they are currently working in, and 40.6% spent 2-5 years in the profession. The pre-test total score average of the delirium information form was found to be 53.84%, and the post-test total average was found to be 83.18%. It was found that the nurses' total score averages in the "Delirium Management Information Form" final test were significantly higher than the score averages in the preliminary test (p=0.000<0.05). In this study, it was found that delirium training given to intensive care nurses increased their level of knowledge about delirium.
