Examination of conflict solution behavior of nurses

Aim: This study was conducted to determine the conflict resolution behaviors of nurses who work in Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital. Materials and Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study included 423 nurses working in Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital who agreed to participate voluntarily. Data were collected by face-to-face interview with nurses. In this study, "Informative form for nurses" and "Conflict Solution Scale" was used as data collection tools. In the analysis of data; number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were calculated for descriptive statistics. Independent samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Mann Whitney U were used to compare the mean scores of the Conflict Resolution Scale with independent variable. Results: The mean age of nurses was 29.54 ± 5.84, 87.4 % of the nurses were women, 54.6 % were married and 56.2 % were undergraduate. The mean scores of the nurses in the sub-dimensions of the CSS; try to understand the person in which the conflict lived 38.74 ± 6.30, listening skills 18.35±5.68, focus on the needs of both sides 18.35±5.68, social cohesion 27.50±3.37, anger management 11.87±3.04 and total score of CSS was found 23.16 ± 4.81. Marital status and anger control with nurses', occupational status, unit of work, seizure durations and weekly working time, try to understand the person in which the conflict lived with listening skills statistically significant relationships were determined. Conclusion: As a result of the findings obtained from the research; conflict resolution behaviors of nurses were above the middle. Awareness raising activities are recommended to improve the conflict resolution behavior of nurses. Anahtar kelimeler: Hemşire; çatışma; çatışma çözme.
