Nurses' atti̇tudes and knowledge towards to ti̇ssue /organ donati̇on and transplantati̇on(example of nurses at Bursa Muammer Ağim Gemli̇k State Hospi̇tal)

The research was performed in order to contribute to the scientific studies on tissue/organ donation and transplantation by identifying nurses' attitudes towards to knowledge of tissue /organ donation and transplantation the country. The research was carried out between 15.01.2014-15.02.2014 among 120 nurses working at Bursa Muammer Ağım Gemlik State Hospital. The research data were collected via a questionnaire prepared for nurses. The results were evaluated by using SSPS 13.0 software package. The mean, standard deviation, percentage and chi-square tests were used while evaluating the data statistically. The obtained results are at 95% confidence interval and significance is analyzed as p<0.05 level. According to the results, although 89% of the nurses support tissue/organ donation and transplantation, 79% of them have not donated their organs. When the reasons of not donating organs are examined, it is found out that 16% fear, 12% insecurity and 44% other courses are main reasons.
