The relationship between perceived intention of nurses and perceived and expected power styles of responsible nurses

Abstract (EN)

Objective: The purpose of this study is aimed to determine the relationship between the nurses' perception power style and expected power style of management nurses with their intention to leave work. Method: This research consist of 200 nurses who working in Kepez State Hospital in Antalya. 158 nurses who working this hospital, volunteer and no permission were included in this study. The data were collected via questionnaire form composed of social-demographic, intention to leave work scale and perceived leader power index were used between April- June 2018. Results: In the study, it was determined that %46,3 of nurses have high intention to leave nursing, %57 of nurses have high invention to leave their job. In the study was determined the nurses' perception power style is the identity power but their expected power style was the expertise power. It was determined that there was a positive low meaningful relationship between the perceived power style dimensions and the compelling power style and the intention to quit both nursing( r =.15, p=.03) and job (r=.29, p=.03). Conclusion: As a result of research, It was determined that there was a positive low meaningful relationship between the perceived power style dimensions and the compelling power style and the intention to quit both nursing and job. For all that, no significant relationship was found between expected power style and intention to leave nursing and job. Key words: Power, power sense, power style, nurse, intention to leave work
