Impact of the organizational trust of nurses on nurse-nurse cooperation

Aim: This study aims to find out the influence of organizational trust upon nurse-to-nurse collaboration. Method: Nurses working in Samsun Gazi Public Hospital constitute the working universe of this descriptive and cross sectional research. Nurses who have been working in the hospital at least for six months and agreed to participate in the research are included. Data is collected via personal information form, organizational nurse trust scale and nurse to nurse collaboration scale. To analyze the data; numbers, percent, average, standard deviation, t test, one-way analysis of variance and multiple linear regression analysis tests are used. Results: It is identified that organizational trust scales and the average subscale score of the nurses participated in the survey is high, average of nurse to nurse collaboration scale score of them is middle-high. It is found out that organizational trust level of the nurses differs according to their age, marital status and working year (p<0.05); nurse to nurse collaboration perception differs according to their age, gender and working year (p<0.05). One-unit increase in organizational trust level causes 0.213 unit change on nurse-to-nurse collaboration perception. Conclusion: As a result of the research it is found out that organizational trust level of the nurses is high, nurse-to-nurse collaboration perception is middle-high and the level of the organizational trust effects nurse-to-nurse collaboration. It can be suggested to the administrators that they should arrange training programs that can increase nurses' organizational trust levels and enhance collaboration, enable employees to participate in decision making process, develop new policy that implement the work is precious and meaningful, and organize in-service activities according to the joint decisions.
