Nurses' attitudes toward efficiency

Increase in the health care costs, the continious devevopment of the technology used in the production of health services and being all these services labor intensive, increase the cost of health services, and forefront the efficiency concept. Labor as an input in the efficiency of health care institutions is an issue that should be considered important for keeping labor productivity. The efficiency of nurses is a fact that affects the quality and efficiency of health care. Knowing the attitude towards efficiency of nurses is important to improve efficiency in health care institutions. Starting from this idea, there had planned and implemented a descriptive field research whether the concept of, nurses' attitudes toward efficiency, has changed according to demographic characteristics. According to findings we can say that nurses' attitudes toward efficiency does not vary depending on gender, their working units, socio-economic status but varies on their age, marital status, having children, education, time of work at the institution, business position, type of work, choose of profession willingly, status of continious in-service training and their thoughts of increasing scientific efficiency. Therefore, these factors should be taken in to account while developing nurses' efficiency and their attitudes toward efficiency. At the scale, the highest scores respectively are, demand of business, professional commitment and on the issue of working conditions; rewarding the lowest scores and leading members relationship factors. According to these findings, when developing nurses' attitudes toward efficiency positively, it has been thought that , rewarding and leading member relationship factors should be considered a bit more.
