Effect of digital addiction levels of nursing students on academic achievement levels

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the digital addiction levels and academic achievement levels of nursing students according to their demographic characteristics and to examine the relationship between digital addiction and academic success. In this context, the study was carried out in descriptive and relation-screening type. The sample of the study consisted of 260 participants selected by simple random sampling method among the students studying at Akdeniz University Faculty of Nursing. In the research, primary data was collected using a questionnaire form including demographic information form, Digital Addiction Scale and Academic Achievement Inventory Scale for University Students. NCSS 2007 program was used for statistical analysis. While evaluating the study data, descriptive statistical methods (mean, standard deviation, median, frequency, ratio, minimum, maximum) as well as the distribution of the data were evaluated with the Shapiro-Wilk Test. Kruskall-Wallis test was used for comparison of quantitative data of three or more groups; Mann-Whitney U Test was used for comparison of two groups. Spearman's correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between quantitative data. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the digital addiction and academic achievement levels of the participants differed significantly according to their demographic characteristics. In addition, it was concluded that there is a negative relationship between the digital addiction levels of nursing students and their academic achievement levels.
