Özet (EN)

This study is experimental research that aims to examine the effectiveness of virtual reality technology in the psychomotor skill training of nursing students on the issue of upskilling them at intravenous injection and infusion. The study is conducted between September 2018 and January 2019. The population of the study consists of the 197 second grade nursing students who are studying at Duzce University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. At the sampling, 52 students were determined through Power Analysis, and 29 of them constitute the experimental group while 27 of them constitute the control group. "Student Information Form", "Intravenous Injection and Infusion Skill Control List", "Bondy Evaluation Scala" was used as the data collecting tool. The students in the experimental group used virtual reality technology to Intravenous Injection and Infusion Skill, yet, the students in the control group used a conventional arm model. It has been detected that the average age among the students in study 19.50±0.76; and %71.4 of them are women, %28.6 of them are men. Also, %57 of them has chosen their jobs intentionally while %43 of them has chosen nursing profession by suggestion. There is a relation found between the scores of the students in the experimental and control group for intravenous injection and infusion skill control list and the average age (p=0.017). Statistically significant difference was found between the intravenous injeciton and infusion skill control list scores of the students in the experimental and control groups (p = 0.001). Also, there is a statistically meaningful difference (p=0.011) detected according to the Bondy evaluation scale among the students in the experimental and control groups who applied "Controlled" It is determined that virtual reality technology is effective for education method in skill training at intravenous injection and infusion skills. It is suggested that the use of virtual reality technologies at skill training in nursing skills should be increased, and new researches that explore the effect of the technologies on clinical skills should be done.
