Frequency of interferon lambda four polymorphism in patients with whom diagnosed chronic hepatitis B and delta hepatitis

Interferon lambda (IFN-λ); modulate immunity in infections and autoimmune diseases through a network of induced genes. IFN-λ's act by binding to the heterodimeric IFN-λ receptor (IFNLR), which activates the STAT phosphorylation-dependent signal cascade. Thus, hundreds of IFN-stimulated genes are induced and this complex modulates various immune functions through feed forward and feedback cycles. The aim of this study was to determine the allele and genotype frequency of IFN-λ4 polymorphism in patients with chronic Hepatitis B viruse, Delta Hepatitis and inactive HBV. In this study; A total of 290 patients with 92 inactive HBV, 122 chronic Hepatitis B and 76 Delta Hepatitis were admitted to the Gastroenterology Clinic of Fırat University Hospital. At the time of admission, 5 ml blood samples were taken into EDTA tubes, stored at -80 degrees. IFNλ4 rs12979860 and rs11322783 polymorphisms were studied and each diagnostic group was compared with respect to allele and genotype frequency. As a result of the comparison between the groups, no difference was found between the allele and genotype frequencies of IFNλ4 rs12979860 polymorphism. In the comparison of the allele and genotype frequencies of IFNλ4 rs12979860 in the chronic HBV patients and the HBV inactive group, the G/G allele was found to be more common in patients with HBV inactive than chronic HBV patients [p = 0.04; OR: 3,55 (1,29-9,74)]. Similarly, in the evaluation of co-dominant alleles in the similar group the recessive allele was more frequent than the group with chronic HBV [p = 0.013; OR: 3.55 (1.29-9,74) 3,30 (1,26-8,68)]. There was no significant difference between the other groups. In this study, rs11322783 polymorphism was found to be more frequent in patients with inactive HBV. This polymorphism, may cause us to think that the disease prevents chronicity in individuals exposed to infection. There is no study similar to our study in the literature.
