Representation of women in the construction of patriarchal discourse in the context of the tv series "Hercai"

Television is one of the mass medium that is the easiest to access and therefore the most common one. TV contents like advertisements, soup operas, reality shows, game shows and series are utilized to give certain messages. Media uses the dominant discourse while producing its contents. Thus, it continues with a certain formula without crossing the line of usual. There are scarcely any texts that goes beyond the dominant discourse. Contents that are designed with a critical manner and are not stereotypic are not sought after by the audience. Based on this, in the handled survey the TV content that will be analyzed is series. Series are programs that maintains the dominant ideology and at the same time reproduces. In the handled survey, TV series named "Hercai" was chosen as the sample. In this series gender roles and their perspective for the patriarchal discourse and its representatives are examined based on the women characters speeches and gestures. The chosen method of the survey is critical discourse analyses. So that, in terms of producing the dominant ideology, where do the women stand, how they act and their relationship with patriarchy are presented.
