Abstract (EN)

Dyadic adjustment is a crucial factor that affects continuity of an healthy marriage between men and women (Sayın, 1990). It had been known that dyadic adjustment affects happinnes, suuccess and gratification in marriage (Burgess and; Cotrell, 1998). Additionally, studies that had govern in this issue indicated that there is a similar relationship between attachment style and dyadic adjustment in healthy marriage (Wampler et al., 2003; Tutarel, Kışlak and Çavuşoğlu, 2006). This study aims to investigate factors that had been thought to effect marriage withregards to gender differences. Participants' attachment style, romance and mate selection attitudes and dyadic adjustment were measured using valid and reliable measurement scales in Turkish population. The results indicated that male participants tend to rate their marriage more adjust then female participants. Female participants reported that it is important to try harder. Lastly, there were more male participants who have anxious attachment styles comparing with female participants. The results will be discussed with regards to methodological and theoretical issues grown by the present study that related with marriage literature in general
