Use of ready-made objects in sculpture art

Sculpture art has gone through materialistic, stylistic and intellectual transformations as the society's living conditions has changed throughout humanity's existence. Over the course of the history of humanity, there are various factors in all ages that cultivate life within their own dynamics. The influence of these factors on the individuals is inevitably reflected on the art as well. Rapidly developing industry and production economy in the early 20th century have begun creating a new culture among the society. In this age, where industry and production economy have determined the dynamics of life, sculpture art is also affected by this transformation and experienced history's one of the greatest divides. The need of providing solutions to people of the modern age with new materials and techniques has required objects of everyday life to be involved in sculpture art. Use of ready-made objects in sculpture art has begun in the early 20th century with Dada movement. Artists have examined the prospect of mass produced objects in the arts between the time period since Marcel Duchamp first transformed an object of everyday life into an object of art in 1913 and modern-days. Use of industrial objects in sculpture art in an intellectual and stylistic sense has ensured the development of new materials, touch and techniques. Relieving artistic object from the aesthetic judgment and values of the accustomed retinal pleasure based on the outer form, ready-made objects have been used to create works of art that embrace inherent features of the composition concept in sculpture art. Within the context of this study, the historic process that catered the emergence of ready-made objects and the transformation of objects of everyday life into objects of art as materials for sculpture art are being addressed by examining main features of artists' works.
