Özet (EN)
Hybrid energy systems are systems that physically or conceptually combine various energy generation, storage and/or conversion technologies to reduce costs and improve capacity, value, efficiency or environmental performance compared to stand-alone alternatives. A solar-wind hybrid system is an application system for generating and supplying electricity that involves the simultaneous production of electricity by two types of power generation equipment, namely a wind turbine and a solar panel array. The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate the electricity generation possibilities with wind, solar and hybrid (wind/solar) energy systems in Van province. In the first part of the thesis, Turkey's renewable energy outlook is given and Van province energy profile is investigated. Renewable energy potential of Van province is evaluated within the scope of solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydroelectric energy. Installed capacities of solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydraulic energy plants in Van province and energy plant potential data are examined. In the second part of the thesis, wind energy systems, solar energy systems and hybrid energy systems (wind/solar) are modeled as on-grid and off-grid with simulation in order to meet the electricity needs of a duplex house on Akdamar Island. Simulations are carried out using HOMER software. Economic and ecological analyzes of the designed systems are made and systems that give appropriate results in terms of total net present cost (NPC), unit energy cost (COE), excess electricity amount and payback period are investigated. It has been concluded that the solar, wind, hydroelectric and biomass energy potential is high and the geothermal energy potential is low in Van province. The COE values of off-grid wind energy systems ranged between 0.1681-0.4457 $/kWh, the COE values of solar energy systems ranged between 0.1356-0.3987 $/kWh, and the COE values of hybrid (wind/solar) energy systems ranged between 0.0804-0.2108 $/kWh. The COE values of off-grid systems have been found to be much higher than the COE values of on-grid systems.
