Abstract (EN)

Hidradenitis Supurativa is a skin disease with systemic and local inflammation characterized by the formation of nodules, fistulas and scars in the perianal, inguanal, axilla and breast areola where the apocrine sweat glands are localized in the body. In this study, our aim is to investigate whether serum YKL-40 levels and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), malondialdehyde (MDA) and peroxynitrite parameters, which are indicators of DNA oxidative damage, are higher than the normal population and their role in the inflammatory response in Hidradenitis Supurativa patients. 25 patients with Hidradenitis Supurativa and 25 healthy volunteers were included in the study. The difference in YKL-40 enzyme, which is thought to be a recently discovered inflammation marker, and 8-OHdG, MDA and peroxynitrite values, which are oxidative damage products, was found to be statistically highly significant in the patient group when compared to the control group. A moderate positive correlation was found between YKL-40 and 8-OHdG. The results showed increased oxidation and inflammation in HS patients, which is thought to have a role in the pathophysiology of the disease.
