Abstract (EN)
Schiff bases are used as catalyst in epoxidation reactions, as a monomer in the presence of conductive polymers, as antifungal, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antioxidant against some oxidative radical species. Recently, many Schiff bases continue to be synthesized. A significant number of these are used as intermediate steps in the design of new compounds in organic synthesis. In this study, the effect of the hydroxyurea derivative Schiff base metal complexes on human colon cancer (HT 29) was investigated in vitro and in vivo in rats. MTT test was applied to in in vitro experiments. For in vivo study, rats were divided into 5 groups as follows: Azoxymethane(AOM)+Oil+di methyl sulfoxide (DMSO), AOM+ Cis-15, AOM+ L-Cd, AOM+ L-Cu and AOM+ L-Zn. To create colon cancer the AOM injection was injected subcutaneously at a dose of 15 mg / kg 3 times (once weekly). The study lasted 28 weeks. In all animals in the experimental groups, mild dysplasia was detected in 100% of the colon mucosal epithelium. Severe dysplasia was observed in other experimental groups except L-Cu group; adenocarcinoma was observed in other experimental groups except Cis-15 and L-Cu. As a result, Schiff base metal complexes showed an effective activity in in vitro study, whereas these complexes were not effective in in vivo studies.
