Effectiveness of in-service training programs and their effects on teacher efficiency: A case of vocational and technical education institutions

The present study aims to determine the views of school directors and teachers employed in vocational and technical educational institutions (industrial high schools and technical high schools) on the effectiveness of in-service training programs and their effects on teacher efficiency. Using the survey method, this study was conducted on a total of 235 school directors and teachers employed in 7 industrial and technical high schools on the Asian side of Istanbul in the education season of 2006 ? 2007. It investigates the relationship between the components constituting in-service training and teacher efficiency. The results of the study demonstrate that there is a positive relationship between teacher efficiency and the components of in-service training such as Need, Will, Perception, and Congruity.
