Transcription and evaluation of Murad I in Tacü't Tevarih by Hoca Sadeddin Efendi

In this thesis different copies of Tâcü't-Tevârîh by Hoca Sadeddin Efendi, which examines Murad I era (1362-1389) are compared. These copies are examined and evaluated. In the introductory part of the study, information about the life and historiography of Hoca Sadeddin Efendi is given. He is one of the important Ottoman historians of the XVI century. In this valuable work of Hoca Sadeddin Efendi, he discusses the events that took place from the beginning of Ottoman history to the year 1520. Until today various Persian and Arabic books by him have been translated into Turkish, except for this book. In this study, 3 different copies of the Tâcü't-Tevârîh written by Hoca Sadeddin are compared. The copy registered with archive number 381 in the "Turkish Manuscript Collection" at the University of Michigan is found to have more pages concerning Murad I when compared to other copies. The titles and verses were indicated in red ink in the copy registered with archive number Turc.64 in French National Library, and in the copy registered with archive number 381 at Michigan University, while the indications were not found in the 1862. All such differences are revealed individually in the study. When comparing the copies, the copy archived as Turc.64 which I took as the main copy, is encoded as AN, the copy archived as 1862 in the library of the University of Toronto is encoded as M, the copy archived as 381 at Michigan University is encoded as B. Comparative text analysis is performed in the study. The information obtained is evaluated in the text and the differences are indicated in the footnotes. In addition, in this process, verses, hadiths, prayers, proverbs and phrases found in the text are indicated in the Arabic alphabet and related places in the text. In the appendix part of the thesis, words, phrases and terms that are used extensively in the texts are put in the form of a dictionary. In addition, several leaflets selected from the text are added to this section as examples. In the conclusion section, the findings are presented under general headings.
