Abstract (EN)
In this study, the role of Marvel Studios film operating within the Hollywood cinema industry in spreading and reinforcing the dominant culture and ideology is researched. Throughout history, the ones who owned the production tools have also owned the intellectual production tool (media). Therefore in this study, mass media and cinema as a part of mass media are examined in the context of political economy. In the fisrt part of the study, mass and key concepts of mass media are being identified, how the political economy shows itself in mass media is analyzed, the functions of mass media are being identified with the notions of globalization, monopoly, deregulation and digitization from past to fture. In the second part of the study, it is revealed that a certain minority has cultural sovereignty by observing the relationship between two of the mass media that take the forms of the culture industry cinema and cultural imperialism. In the third and the last part of the study the movies belong to Marvel Studios is analyzed with the semiotic method, the dominant culture and ideological figures and references are evaluated with political economy approach.
