Özet (EN)

Objective: To evaluate homocysteine as a predictor according to its serum levels in patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm. Material and Methods: Patients with infrarenal aortic aneurysm were compared with CABG cases and control group. All cases were hospitalized in Deprtment of Cardiovascular Surgery, Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine between January 2nd, 2015 and June 30th, 2015. All 55 patients were older than 40 years ranged between 42 and 82. Female/male ratio was 24/31. Conclusion: Homocysteine levels in abdominal aortic aneurysm cases were significantly higher when compared to control group as it has been considered in major studies. Additionally, when compared to CABG cases, homocysteine levels were significantly higher in aneurysm group. Result: Correlation between increased homocysteine levels and abdominal aortic aneurysms shown in our study is similar to literature. However to offer increased homocysteine level as a predictor of AAA, further multicentered, large numbered studies are needed.
