Abstract (EN)
In this study, the presence of pestivirus infection was investigated in Honamlı goats with pure breed characteristics. For this purpose, blood sampling was performed from 251 goats, 1 year old and older, with healthy appearance, male and female, and it was aimed to reveal their susceptibility to infection. In the study, the indirect Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test was applied to the blood samples collected from the districts of Burdur province and were checked for antibodies to the pestivirus p80 protein. Of the 251 goat blood serum tested, 115 (45.82%) were found to be seropositive. Seropositivity rates were found to be between 85.42% and 8% according to the settlements. The distribution of positivity according to age is 46.15% (12/26) in 1 year old goats, 40.74% (33/81) in 2 year old goats, 51.72% (45/87) in 3 year old goats, It was determined as 39.39% (13/33) in goats, 46.15 (6/13) in 5 year old goats and 54.55% (6/11) in 6 year old and older goats. It was determined that the difference between the seropositivity rates determined on the basis of different age groups and gender was statistically insignificant (P>0.05), while the difference between the seropositivity rates determined on the basis of districts was significant (P<0.05). As a result of this research, the presence/prevalence of Pestivirus infection in the Honamlı goat breed was demonstrated serologically for the first time.
