The geography human and economiy of Hozat town (Tunceli̇)

Anthropogeography and Economic geography of Hozat county seat Hozat where is our research area, is a county of Tunceli which is locatedin Aşağı Murat Dağlık area of Yukarı Fırat section of Eastern Anatolia region. It is surrounded by the Eastern Toros mountains from northen west, Pertek and Murat river that is lying from east to west newly named Keban barage lake by South. Research area is restricted to Hozat county seat and it covers abalt 17 km2 area. Altitude of county is 1520 m. Height is reducing gradually going north to South. Hozat county seat islocated on the shoulders of Hozat hill which is one of the shoulders of valley that Hozat stream (Singeç Çayı) is rising by northerneast and flowing to southern east. The most important stream of our research area is Hozat river. Hozat which was the center of Dersim shire in 1848 in 25 December 1935 became a Tunceli city with the lawno 1885.After being a Tunceli city in 1936,it became a county of Tunceli. In 1937 as a result of Dersim rebellion, it is started to be managed by Elazığ, but it became ane of the eight county of Tunceli in 1946 after Tunceli's becoming a city again. In Hozat which is the center of Dersim in Ottoman Empire period, had a change and developed in urban function with the help of rising population. For today, Hozat county center has an agriculttural town properities because of the working areas becoming administrative center and its service industry has great importance. If there would be more investment in tourism, agriculture and industry depends on stockbreeding, the urban identity of Hozat county would be streng then. Anthropogeographic properities of Hozat county seat considerably shaped connected with land forms and climate. For this reasan, as an economic activity agriculture and stockbreeding became prominent.
