Abstract (EN)
During the wars between China and the West Göktürks, the T?ang Dynasty, Emperor T?ai-tsung, had forbidden everyone to leave the country. Despite this ban, a Buddhist monk named Hsuan-tsang, secretly took off to India in 627, to be able to learn more about the teachings of Buddhism, that was born in that region. However, to go to India, he had to pass through Turkistan that was under control of the West Göktürks, and thus T?ung Yabgu Khan in Suyab, has allowed his transition. After passing Suyab, passing through Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, he reached India. After studying Buddhism and taking the necessary books with him, he reached the Chinese capital city Ch?ang-an in 645. After his return, the Emperor T?ai-tsung forgave Hsuan-tsang and ordered him in secret to write his travel memories. In 646, Hsuan-tsang completed these travel memories under the title ?The Western Regions of the Great T'ang Dynasty Travelogues As?.Fort he study of the Central Asian Turkish history and culture in the seventh century, these travelogues, written by Hsuan-tsang, are important resources; text translation and evaluation of this work has been done.
