Idioms in Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar's novel A Marriage Under the Comet

In this study, the idioms in Hüseyin Rahmi GÜRPINAR's novel Marriage Under Comet were determined and compared with the Güncel Türkçe Sözlük [Current Turkish Dictionary] and Atasözleri ve Deyimler Sözlüğü [Proverbs and Idioms Dictionary] The first edition of the work has been taken as a basis in order to determine the time-dependent changes ore usege stuations in the phrase structures in a healty way. The study consists of four parts. In the first part, the aim, method and limits of the study; it contains information about Hüseyin Rahmi GÜRPINAR's life and literary personality. In the second part, theoretical information about idioms is given and comparisons and examinations of idioms determined in the light of this information are made. In the third chapter, the description and properties of the allusion are given, with the thought that the trope and allusion on which the meaning of the idiom is formed will help. The fourth chapter includes the index containing all the words of the novel. The meanings of words and idioms have been given according to their context.
