Abstract (EN)
The narratives Hüsn ü Aşk, Hüsn ü Dil and Sıhhat u Maraz are among the remarkable symbolic narratives of classical Turkish literature. Analyzing the symbols in these narratives and evaluating them from a holistic perspective can make significant contributions to the analysis of the texts of classical Turkish literature. For this purpose, the symbols in the three narratives have been analyzed with a holistic approach in the thesis. While analyzing symbols, semiotic approaches have been utilized as a method. Each symbol in the narratives has been analyzed first in terms of its relationship with other signs in the narrative, and then in terms of the meaning areas it has gained in the tradition. Since all three narratives analyzed in the study fictionalize the subject of "the journey to knowledge of self and truth", the tradition of Islamic thought has been mostly used for the meaning areas of symbols. The schools of thought whose theories and concepts are utilized are the schools of theology, philosophy, and sûfîsm. What makes the thesis distinctive is that each symbol analyzed is based on the three schools of thought in the Islamic tradition of thought and analyzed as a part of a whole. In doing so, the aim is to avoid arbitrary interpretations and to present the symbols with justification, since their meaning areas have changed especially in modern times, and thus try to make them comprehensible. The three narratives analyzed in the thesis can be defined as the fictional expression of the idea "if you know about your soul (nafs), you will know your God". The most fundamental question to be answered in the thesis for the comprehension of symbols is the question "How does a person know himself and the Truth?". This thesis attempts to answer this fundamental question through concepts such as love, intellect (and reason), beauty, spirit, nafs (soul and self), imagination, parole (and language), and heart; the topics of philosophy and sûfîsm such as self-knowledge, immortality, pain and pleasure debates, and the relationship of human-universe-heart; ontological, epistemological, and psychological theories and concepts such as emanation, intellects, the nafs or knowledge, substance-accident, Divine Names, wahdat al-wujûd, ayn thâbita, and revolution.
