Abstract (EN)
The aim of our study named "Hüsrev Gerede: Life and Political Personality (1884-1962)" is to examine Hüsrev Gerede's life as an individual and to witness the period he lived with the information given. Hüsrev Gerede, coming from a family of military origin, served as Chief of Staff to Kazım Karabekir Pasha with Chief of Staff rank during the First World War in the Caucasus Front. During the armistice period, he was a member of the Censorship Commission as the Chief of Staff in charge of controlling and inspecting the writings against the Entente States. After Mustafa Kemal Pasha was appointed as the 9th Army Inspector, he took part in the Inspection Committee form of 18 people which went to Samsun with the task of Political Branch and Intelligence Gathering Directorate for the Staff Headquarters Hüsrev Gerede has been in actual service next to Mustafa Kemal Pasha in all National Struggle activities in Basin, Amasya, Erzurum, Sivas and then Ankara. He took part in delegation of Nasiha which was created to end riots by telling the purpose of the National Struggle against the rebellions rising against Turkish Grand National Assembly. During the uprising in Bolu, he was arrested by the rebels in Gerede region and released after his meetings with Sefer Bey, the leader of the Gerede rebels. After the enactment of the Surname Law, Mustafa Kemal Pasha honored him with the surname Gerede due to the events of Gerede, which left great traces on him. He served as the Deputy of Trabzon in the Ottoman Chamber of Deputies and played an active role in the adoption of the National Pact Documant in the Chamber. But in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, He served as the deputy of Trabzon, Urfa and Sivas. He served as Turkey's medium ambassador in Budapest and Sofia and as Turkey's Ambassador in Tehran, Tokyo, Berlin and Rio de Janeiro at various dates between the years 1924-1949 Hüsrev Bey began his military service in 1905 and retired on 13 July 1949 as a diplomat. Hüsrev Gerede passed away on 20 March 1962 in Istanbul.
