Özet (EN)
Chronic wounds are an important cause of mortality and morbidity in the health system. Various factors affect wound healing negatively. Nowadays, inability to achieve complete success in chronic wound care and treatment is turning patients and healthcare professionals towards innovative approaches. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of the mixture of Hypericum perforatum, Calendula officinalis and Aloe vera on incisional wound healing histopathologically. In the study, a total of 14 rats, 7 rats each, were used in each group. The groups were divided into two as experiment and control. While a mixture of herbal extracts was applied to the wounds of the experimental group, dressings were applied to the control group with sterile saline. During the study period, measurement of wound surface areas, macroscopic evaluation and histopathological examination were performed in both groups. According to the findings obtained from the research: As a result of the macroscopic evaluation, the wound healing of the control group was completed in a shorter time. Histopathological examinations revealed that wound healing was completed on the 21st day in the control group. In the experimental group, inflammatory reaction, epithelial layer loss and chronic granulation tissue formation were detected. As a result, it was observed that the herbal mixture obtained in this study negatively affected wound healing. Therefore, there is a need to increase scientific studies on herbal extracts affecting wound healing mechanisms and to improve the field of treatment with plants.
