Depiction of the Prophet Muhammad era and the value of the narratives on this issue

This study aims to analyse the issue titled as "Depiction of the Prophet Muhammad Era and the Value of the Narratives on this Issue " and considering the regarded narratives and historical terms, the nature of the depiction in the narratives was evalvated. In the introduction part of this study consisting two sections as introduction and conclusion, the scope of the study, its importance, method, sources and conceptual frame were referred to. In the first section, with regard to Quran and Prophet's hadiths, the approach of Muslims towards aesthetics and depiction after İslam was presented. The religion and art relation was pointed oct accordingly. In the second part which studies the depiction and related hadiths, the concerned narratives were evaluated in terms of isnad and text and the general isnad conclusions received subsequently were stated. In this study, it was observed that the hadiths have a significant role in the religious and secular lives of Muslims and they also act as a major guide to Muslims daily lives. On the other side, it was realized that the presence of hadith regarding depiction during prophet era was strictly related to paganism. And it was concluded that depiction accepted as prohibited in general terms can not be understood by just itself free from paganism. Keywords: Depiction, painting, sculpture, art, pagan, paganism
