Researches on stand compositions in forest of Hizardere (Ilgaz - Ankara)

This study was conducted in order to determine silvicultural treatment done in different stand types, by doing some examinations in stand profiles from Hızardere Series in Hızardere Forest Enterprise. Eighteen Sample plots were taken from different stands types to determine stand compositions. In sample plots, vertical projection of tree crowns, diameter and height of whole trees, ages, and green and dry branch height were measured. A stand profile and their crown projection were drawn for each sample plot and relations in stand were found by determining number of trees, tree volume, stratum, total basal area, biological top height, diameters and ages of trees. Results were discussed in order to determine the situation of stratum and mixture of forest tree species, canopy structure and stem quality, growth potential and natural regeneration ability, ecological and silvicultural properties of stands and some silvicultural suggestions were made concerning stand compositions in the research area.
