Abstract (EN)
Banū ʿAmmār is a family that ruled in and around Tripoli between the years 462-502/1070-1109. Ibn ʿAmmār became the last leader of the The Banū ʿAmmār Emirate, which was established by his uncle, Amīn al-Dawla Abū Ṭālib, in Tripoli in 462/1070, and he dominated over a wide area. Having a small army, Ibn ʿAmmār always established positive relations with his neighbors thanks to his peaceful personality and superior intelligence, and thus tried to maintain his independence. When Ibn ʿAmmār took over the Tripoli administration, the Crusades started and the lands under his rule were constantly occupied by the Crusaders. For this reason, Ibn ʿAmmār struggled against the Crusaders to prevent the occupation of the lands he had dominated during his rule. While fighting against the Crusaders, Ibn ʿAmmār constantly asked for help from the neighboring states and emirates, but he was left alone in the struggle against the Crusaders due to the political conflicts and divisions with in the Muslims. In our study, first of all, the birth of Ibn ʿAmmār, his parental and personal characteristics will be discussed, and then his struggle against the Crusaders will be examined. In addition, the position of Ibn ʿAmmār in the eye of the caliph, sultan and other emeers and his relations with them will also be revealed.
