Detection, analysis and evaluation of the narrations of the sahâba from the tâbi'în in Ibn Hajar al-Ascalânî's Nuzheth al-Sâmi'în fî Rı̇wâyat al-sahâba mı̇na al-tâbi'în

The Sahaba learnt and narrated hadith from each other, and they also learnt and narrated hadith from the tâbiîn. What is essential in the system of isnad is that the narrator receives the hadith from a scholar or sheikh who is older than him in age and knowledge. While the tâbiîn should have received narrations from the Sahaba, due to scholarly, historical and social reasons, some of the Sahaba narrated from the leading hadith scholars of the tâbiîn, and the hadith's senedi was manifested as sahâba → tâbiîn → sahâba → Rasûlullah. The fact that the Sahaba narrated hadith from the tâbiîn, who were inferior to them in terms of rank, knowledge and virtue, may cause the student of hadith to make a mistake or to think that there is a presentment-dissent in the isnad. For this reason, it has become important to identify such narrations in the hadith tradition; it has become a necessity to show that they are not defective in terms of isnad, but that they are the narrations of the strata from each other. Although a book titled Rivâyet al-sahāba mine al-tābiîn written by Hatīb al-Baghdādī (v. 463/1071) is mentioned in the sources on the subject, unfortunately it has not survived to the present day. Afterwards, Ibn Hajar (v. 852/1448) revisited the subject in his work Nuzheth al-sāmiʿīn fī rivāyat al-sahāba mine al-tābiʿīn, based on al-Khatīb al-Baghdādī's book. In this study, we will identify, analyse and evaluate the hadiths that Ibn Hajar identified as narrated by the sahāba from the tābiîn in this work. The study consists of an introduction, two chapters and a conclusion about the importance, purpose, methods and sources of the research. In the first part, the hadith narration of the sahâb from the tâbiîn is included in the works of hadith methodology, and the opinions of the mutaqaddimûn and contemporary scholars on the subject are given. In the second part, the narrations in Ibn Hajar's Nuzheth al-sāmiʿīn fī rivāyat al-sahāba mine al-tābiʿīn were identified in the hadith sources and these narrations were analysed and evaluated. In the conclusion part, the narrations identified are presented numerically and analysed within the framework of hadith topics.
