Abstract (EN)

The subject of our dissertation named ?The Problem of Will and Freedom of Human in Ibn Khazm? is the research of Ibn Khazm?s views on ?willpower and humans? freedom? issue which is in the scope of Kalam (Islamic Theology) and which has interested both Kalam and philosophy. In order to make this, we tried to analyze Ibn Khazm?s views comparatively with theologists and philosophers.In the First Chapter, we tried to explain the political and socio-cultural structure of Andalucía; the life of Ibn Khazm, his political and scientific character along with his way of understanding madhabi concerns; and also the impacts of Andalucía on Ibn Khazm.In the second chapter, under the title ?The Problem of Will and Freedom of Human in Ibn Khazm? we primarily examined the main topics of our study: Willpower and Freedom. In the same section we tried to make it clear how was the problem of Will and Freedom dealt with in philosophy in general, how was it evaluated in Islamic philosophy, and how the Kalamic schools approached the subject. While making the research in this section, we made an effort to include the approaches of other Kalamic schools and Ibn Khazm on ?the problem of freedom? along with other concepts such as Will, Qudrat, Action, Al-Qadza (Fate) and Al-Qadar (predestination) comparatively.Keywords: Ibn Khazm, Will, Action, Freedom of Human, Kalam.
