Abstract (EN)

Iqtibās (Quotation) as a literary concept is a poet or writer's quoting the verses or hadīths to strengthen his expression. It is known that the Prophet who was the first commentator of the Holy Qur'ān reminded the verses in his various words and used verses in his daily conversations. It is conceivable that the companions, who followed the Prophet on every issue, also quoted from Qur'ān by mentioning verses in their talk. This study aims to determine from a certain perspective how the companion, who witnessed the coming of the revelation and were considered to be the first interlocutors of it, concerned with the Qur'ān in their lives. For this purpose, the narrations about their quotations from the Qur'ān were also examined in particular on Tafsīr of Ibn Kathīr, who was also known for a muhaddith. So in this work, which consists of an introduction and three parts, firstly framework of quotation concept was determined and then examples of quotations found in the Tafsīr of Ibn Kathīr were identified and classified and tried to reach a certain result. As a result, it is put forward that some of the companions quoted the Qur'ān's verses in every opportunity they saw, without thinking of a literary aim, by remembering it and reminding to the people around them.
