Abstract (EN)

Thesis investigation the God-Universe relation with reference to lbn Rushd's (Averroes) philosophy. Ibn Rushd examines and interprets the relation between God and Universe not in terms of divine will but rather in the context of divine acts. For him, act is a relation between a subject and an object. For this reason, Ibn Rushd acknowledges the importance of principle of causality in scientifre research. For Ibn Rushd the rejection of causality would lead the unresolved problems of epistemological, ontological and theological nature. Ibn Rushd disaqreos with Ash'arite theologians on creation ex-nihilo, and with al-Farabi and Avicenna's theory of creation as emanation. For Ibn Rushd, God does not create out of nothing, rather God combines prime matter with the form, Yet, Creation by God is not only bringing matter and form together but also continuation in existence. Ibn Rushd calles his version of creation as continuous creation. In this theory God is in continuous relation with the universe. Also, God is in an epistemological relation with the most perfect being, in the universe, namely, human-being. The manifestation of this relation is the sending of prophets by God in order to enlighten human beings in practical matters (such as, morals, happiness ect.) However, Ibn Rushd does not consider miracles- understood as divine intervention into the course of natüre as an proof for the accuracy of prophet hood. Ibn Rushd also deals with the human freedom and adapts a mild form of determinism. For him, the human acts take palace in concurrence of human will and external causes. Yet, human being can out and realize his freedom to the extend that external causes are know to him. He also deals with the question of immortality. Although Ibn Rushd accepts immortality of soul, he regards the life after as incorporeal. Keywords: lbn Rushd (Averroes), God, Universe.
