Abstract (EN)

This research focuses on Ibn Taymiyyah's jihād doctrine. Primarily, it studies the question whether the reason for killing the non-Muslim is his disbelief or his hostile behavior toward Muslims, according to Ibn Taymiyyah. Furthermore, by expanding on the subject, the study also aims to address the question whether non-Muslims might achieve a peace agreement with Muslims without paying any jizya. During this period, a study of the concept of maslaḥa of Ibn Taymiyyah was conducted. However, the conception of the country introduced by him in his Mardin Fatwā or other works is emphasized, and it is seen that his writings have more than two conceptions of abode. When we explore his writings, we can see that he was much more flexible than other classical scholars on this subject. The significance of the Mardin Fatwā in the present world is highlighted toward the end of the second chapter. There, I deconstruct the misinterpretations and misuse of Ibn Taymiyyah's writings by radical resurgent groups through discourse analysis. The final chapter of the study discusses his political behavior towards the Mongols and the Mamluks, as well as the struggle of modern organizations known as radicals, Salafī and modern Islamists against the influence of the West in the contemporary Muslim world. Most importantly, it demonstrates through discourse analysis that such entities sought legitimacy through the works of Ibn Taymiyyah. In doing so, it focuses on the concepts of abode, rebellion, maslaḥa, and suicide bombing. Furthermore, it highlights the differences between these groups and Ibn Taymiyyah. Finally, Ibn Taymiyyah's image of the Ottomans and modern Turkey is reviewed.
