Abstract (EN)

Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya wrote many studies, in the mobility of ideas of Mamluk period (648/923-1250/1517), with the aim of finding solutions to problems which he saw in society. In this study titled "Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya's Responses and Counter-Criticism to the Claims of the People of the Book", it is examined Al-Jawziyya's book, titled "Hidâyetü'l-hayârâ fî ecvibeti'l-yehûd ve'n-nasârâ", which he wrote in the context of refutation tradition. In his aforesaid book, Al-Jawziyya responds to the claims of the People of the Book about Islam, Prophet Muhammad and Muslims. The content of Hidâyetü'l-Hayârâ stands out in terms of giving glad tidings of Prophet Muhammad in previous sacred books (tabshirat) and testifying of his Prophethood (proofs of prophecy). However Al-Jawziyya essentially handles the belief/claim that "Islam is true religion, Muhammad is last Prophet" in the whole book. In our study we have tried to examine and evaluate Jawziyya's responses and criticism to claims of the People of the Book, and the evidences he used in this way. Keywords: Polemical Work, People of the Book, tabshirat, tahrif, prophethood (nubuwwah)
