Abstract (EN)

The current work is initiated through considering the importance of originality in creative and aesthetic interior textile design, and involves the process of resorting to the cultural memory. It was observed that the cultural memory, national identity and art movements/styles were benefited to construct originality while designing interior textile, so relevant works were examined accordingly. Within the thesis framework, interior textile products were classified and examined as upholstery, furnishings (curtains and table top products), textile floor coverings (floor mats), bedding (duvet cover, sheet, blanket, pique) and decorative textiles. Eskisehir region was considered during the originality works, and the Phrygian civilization background that may have influenced the regional culture was examined within the cultural memory theme. Two surviving artifacts of the Phrygian culture, Midas and Areyastis Monuments, were examined and two original collections were created. The collections (runner, floor mat, pillow and table) were implemented with the punch needle technique in order to adopt boutique manufacturing and allow artistic craftsmanship.
