"Looki̇ng awry" at the ideology: The discourse analysi̇s of Skyfall

Approaches about the relation between cinema and ideology vary toward that meaning attribute that two concepts. In the dominant paradigm of the Marxist approaches, "ideology" is the concept as shape on the role of the "bend the truth" which means "false consciousness". In this backround, cinema is a tool which reproduce the ideology. In case of the concept of "ideology" and "cinema" taken as in this understanding, the direction of these approaches about cinema-ideology would be determined. Although the ideology is described as "false consciousness" in based on the Marxist approach, Slavoj Žižek who is a Post-Marxist, reverse to this approach and explain to ideology as a tool closer to the "Real". By the based on Žižek's approach, the relation of the ideology and cinema is considered again and also opens to debate the function and direction of ideology in this relationship. In this study, based on Slavoj Žižek's opinion about ideology and cinema, the relation of this concepts was interpreted. To measure the stability of Žižek's ideological approach in the cinema criticism, Skyfall (Mendes, 2012) was analized with the mothod of critical discourse analysis. In this analysis, with the help of the psychoanalytical concepts, the ideological factors of the movie interpreted outside the boundaries of perception of ''false consciousness". Thus, on the basis of Skyfall, a consistent approach has searched in the cinema-ideology relation with the Žižek's ideological theory.
