Abstract (EN)

The research was carried out to determine the effect of sole and different mixture ratios of common vetch (Vicia sativa L) and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) on forage yield and quality during the winter intercrop growing period in İdil/Şırnak conditions. In the research, in addition to pure (100 %) plantings of vetch (V) and barley (B), 75%V-25%B, 50%V-50 %B and 25%V-75 %B mixtures were used. The field trial was carried out in a randomized block trial design under farmer conditions in İdil/Dirsekli village during the winter intercrop period of November 2022 and April 2023. Harvesting for grass yield was done on dates that coincided with the milk-dough period of barley. At harvest, plant height, fresh and dry grass yields, as well as grass quality characteristics were determined. In the research, forage yield and yield-related characteristics; It was determined that the plant height of vetch varied between 103.5-119.7 cm, the plant height of barley varied between 92.6-99.8 cm, the total fresh forage yield varied between 1578.1-2994.7 kg da-1, and the dry hay yield varied between 369.4-1131.7 kg da-1. Among the features related to hay quality, crude protein (CP) ratio is 10.57-19.90%, neutral detergent insoluble fiber (NDF) is 47.63-61.68%, acid detergent insoluble fiber (ADF) is 27.66-32.64%, Calcium (Ca) is 0.052-0.915%, Potassium (K) 2.925-3.821%, Magnesium (Mg) 0.085-0.304%, Phosphorus (P) 0.301-0338%, digestible dry matter (DDM) rate 63.48-67.35%, dry matter intake (DMI) 1.950-2.521%, relative feed value (RFV) was determined to vary between 96.85-124.69. As a result of the research, it is seen that common vetch is affected by the winter cold of Idil/Şırnak conditions and therefore the forage productivity is low in these conditions. However, it has been determined that when barley is grown pure and as a mixture of 25-50 %vetch, an average of 1100 kg of dry matter per decare is obtained.
