Abstract (EN)
The alfalfa seed chalcid, Bruchophagus roddi Gussakovskiy, 1933 (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae) is the important pest in seed of alfalfa. The aim of this study was to determine the bio-ecological characteristics, alternative hosts, population fluctation of B. Roddi'in Iğdır with distribution and damage rates in alfalfa fields of Iğdır, Ağrı, Kars and Van provinces. Field surveys were conducted between March and October with 7 and 10 days intervals. In addition, 100 clusters of alfalfa capsules were collected from each field. According to investigation results, it was determined that B. roddi overwintering in the seed at larval stage, and the first adults were seen in the 3rd week of March, reached the highest number in early June and present in nature until October. As alternative hosts, Glycyrrhiza glabra L., Lotus corniculatus L. and Medicago spp. (Fabaceae) were determined and the found and larvae were detected feeding in the seeds of these plants. The damage rates of B. roddi in alfalfa seeds were determined as between 15,4-53,2 and %4,5-29,9% in Iğdır, 8,9-41,2 and %8,1-19,0% in Ağrı and 11,0-25,8 and %10,2-42,5% in Kars and between 7,2-34,8 and %5,4-18,0% in Van in the years 2016 and 2017, respectively.
