Ihsan Abbas' life, works and literary criticism

In this study, İhsan Abbas's life, works and literary criticism were discussed and examined according to the rules of literary criticism. Ihsan Abbas's life was researched primarily based on historical sources and her own writings, and important aspects of her Literary Criticism were examined by comparing it with other sources. Historically, the author lived in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, when the Islamic world was faced with major social and political problems. Despite these problems, he was born and raised within the borders of the Ottoman Empire, which was marked by cultural and scientific developments. His broad culture, familiarity with 4-5 languages, and breadth of his interests show that the author has a versatile personality. İhsan Abbas's works generally cover the subjects of homesickness, innovation, criticism and literary criticism. In addition to works in the fields of poetry, stories, theatre, literary history and literary criticism, he published many encyclopedic works, and as a critic and researcher, he compared the information in the text with real life while analyzing the texts. This feature stems from his knowledge of old and new Arabic culture and literature, as well as the theoretical aspects of the Western poetry tradition, and his knowledge of the English language and culture. Instead of following a single method in text analysis, İhsan Abbas used the American parallelism method, which is based on parallelism, in explaining soul-body relations in some of his works. It is seen that he combines the French historical method in some of his works, and even combines both methods in some of his books.
