The meanings of the term ihsān in Arabic and its reflections on Qur'ānic translations

In this study on "The Meanings of the Term of Ihsān in Arabic and Its Reflections on the Qur'ānic Translations", the term of ihsān, which is sometimes attributed to Allah and sometimes to human beings in the Qur'ān and mentioned in many verses with various derivatives, is analysed. The study consists of an introduction, two chapters and a conclusion. In the introduction, the subject, purpose, importance, limitations and related literature of the thesis are given. In the chapter titled "Etymology and Meaning Analysis of the Term of Ihsān", after discussing h-s-n and its derivatives, which constitute the root of the concept of ihsān, the focus is on ihsān and its derivatives. A classification was made according to the meanings determined from various classical and modern dictionaries. numerous examples from Arabic poetry and prose are mentioned under each meaning heading. In the other section titled "Reflections of ihsān and its derivatives on Qur'ānic translations", the usage of the term of ihsān in the Qur'ān has been investigated. After the related verses are classified according to their meaning groups, an explanation about each verse is given. Then, it is analysed how the term in question is translated in the selected translations. The translations of the verses analysed were evaluated by taking into consideration the information obtained in the first part. The study is completed with a conclusion.
