An original example of the press life of the II. Constitutional Monarchy Period: Afiyet Newspaper (1913-1915)

In this study, Afiyet newspaper, which was published between 1913-1915, was examined. One of the important examples of the Ottoman press and publishing life: Afiyet newspaper, which was revived with the relative freedom created by the II. Constitutional Monarchy, published in a wide framework unlike other medical newspapers and journals published in the period. The newspaper, which appeals to all social segments and reaches a wide readership by making informative, educational and entertaining publications, has published articles in every field except political and religious issues. The aim of this study is to determine the position of Afiyet newspaper (1913-1915), one of the important newspapers of the press life of the Second Constitutional Era, among the newspapers of the period, and to reveal what kind of savings it created in which field.The data of the research consists of all the issues of Afiyet newspaper published between 1913-1915. The articles on health, women, children and science were examined and these articles were evaluated together with the political, cultural and social structure of the period. As a result, the atmosphere of freedom created by the Second Constitutional Era was reflected in the press life, and periodicals published in every field were encountered in the period. Despite the fact that Afiyet newspaper, which was examined in this study, started its publication life as a medical newspaper, it was concluded that it wrote articles on many areas of life and tried to inform its readers in line with the demands from its readers with the traditional point of view of the period.
