Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, some of the concepts are explained briefly through one-dimensional digital filters, and then 2-dimensional digital filters are introduced. First, the properties of the 2-D discrete time signal are explained. Then, the properties of the 2-D digital filter, which is considered as a system, are explained. The properties of the recursive and non- recursive 2-D digital filters are further examined and various design methods are investigated. Moreover, one-dimensional analog filters are designed and combined to construct 2-D digital filters and their amplitude response and contour graphics are plotted in MATLAB environment. Then, various 2-D digital filters are designed and their amplitude responses are compared in MATLAB environment. The designed 2-D digital filters are then applied on several image processing applications such as edge detection, noise removal and the obtained results are evaluated. Key Words: 2-D Digital filter, 2-D windows, recursive filter, non-recursive, edge detection, noise removal, image enhancement.
