Abstract (EN)

The aim of the present study was to determine the levels of Zn, Pb, Cu, Cr, Cd and Fe levels in liver, muscle and gill tissues of Clarias gariepinus and Cyprinus carpio and sampled from two different fish farms in Tuzla (Karataş) and Silifke (İçel) having different water sources.Samplings were carried out between July 2005 and September 2005. Spectrophotometric methods (ICP-AES) were applied in determination of heavy metal levels of the tissues studied. The relationship in heavy metal levels among the tissues was liver > muscle > gill in both species and C.carpio > C.gariepinus among the species. The heavy metal levels of liver and gill tissues of Tuzla samples were higher than that of Silifke samples in all metals except iron.Water sources of both stations can be regarded as clear considering the species, tissues and metals studied,
