Foreign language learning self efficacy perception and anxiety of two distinct group of secondary school learners

The comparison of self efficacy perception and anxiety levels of a state conservatory secondary school learners and a regular state secondary school learners (5, 6, 7, 8. graders) in Turkey in terms of English as a foreign language (EFL) learning was targeted in this research. Throughout this study, foreign language learning self efficacy perception and anxiety levels of both group of learners were explored, and whether these elements reflect a meaningful difference with regard to variables such as gender, grade level and type of school was investigated. This study incorporates scanning research model. 'Questionnaire of Self Efficacy' and 'Foreign Language Learning Anxiety' were employed as means of data collection. The sampling of this research was generated by means of 'purposive sampling method' with reference to easy accessibility. To this end, 98 state conservatory secondary school learners and 98 regular state secondary school learners were embraced in this study. As a consequence, foreign language learning self efficacy perception level of conservatory learners was found to be higher than regular secondary school learners. In addition, foreign language learning anxiety level of regular secondary school learners was spotted as higher than conservatory learners. As for each individual school, it was discovered that the self efficacy perception level of 8th graders in conservatory was found to be higher than the 5th graders. Additionally, with regard to foreign language learning anxiety in conservatory, female learners were discovered as more anxious than male learners. On the other hand, no significant difference was detected in terms of gender and classroom level in regular state secondary school.
