Abstract (EN)
Two-phase flow regimes of gases and liquids is frequently encountered in industry and has been studied intensively for many years. Numerical methods become more interesting for researchers as an alternative to emprical methods in two phase flows. However, this technology couldn?t become mature about two phase flow analysis yet. In this study, two phase pressure drops have been calculated and compared with the experimental results by researching the Fluent CFD software, which is based on finite volume method and the feasibility of CFD technology for two phase flows. The fluid taken into consideration is R134a and the two phase flow characteristics of this fluid in horizontal pipe has been investigated. Being able to calculate two phase pressure drops through numerical methods would be very beneficial for especially designing of HVAC equipments and for the researchers to make studies on new refrigerants. Also in this study interface dynamics, which is the subject of current researches on annular flow is examined. As a result of this study the feasibility of CFD technology for two phase flow has been evaluated and suggestions for optimisation of results have been submittted.
