In this study, the free and forcedvibration analyses of a nonsymmetric two-bay coupled shear wall with stiffeningbeams at certain heights and elastic connecting beam-wall connections, resting on anelastic foundation are carried out. The solution of the problem is realized by writingthe compatibility equation for the vertical displacements at the midpoints of theconnecting and stiffening beams using continuous connection method for the systemwhich is modeled as a system of lumped masses. During this analysis, the boundaryconditions at the bottom are written considering vertical, horizontal and rotationalrigidities of the foundation. Having found the displacements of the piers for unitloadings, the flexibility matrix is written. The stiffness matrix is found by invertingthe flexibility matrix. Substituting the mass matrix obtained by the lumped massassumption and the stiffness matrix into the vibration equation, the naturalfrequencies and the corresponding mode shape vectors are obtained. Uncoupledsystems of equations being obtained, the analysis has been carried out in the timedomain using Newmark method. Using Wilson spectral acceleration values, spectrum analysis has been carried out. Following the analysis, a general purposecomputer program in Fortran language has been prepared and, then, using thisprogram various examples have been solved. These examples have been solved bySAP2000 structural analysis program, as well, so as to check the validity of theprepared program.Key Words: Continuous Connection Method, Shear Walls,Two-Bay Coupled, Stiffening Beam, Dynamic Analysis.II
