Effect of pscyhoeducation on treatment compliance and quality of life in patients with a diagnosed of bipolar disorder

Abstract (EN)

The study was carried out to determine the effect of the pscyhoeducation on treatment compliance and quality of life in patients with a diagnosed of bipolar disorder. Total of 40 patients participated the study which was planned voluntaristic. Psychoeducation program was performed total of 21 week session which were carried out two session, each of 45-60 minutes once a week. Data was collected with using Patient Information Form, Morisky Medication Compliance Scale and SF(36) Short Form Quality of Life Scale. Data was evaluated before the programe and 3 months after programe. Chi-square, t tests , Mann Whitney U Test and Wilcoxoen test were used for analyzing the data. It was determined that after psychoeducation, subtitles of SF-36 Quality of Life; "Physical role difficulties'', "General health perception'', "Vitality", "Emotional role difficulties" was significantly increased. There was significant increase between before psychoeducation and after 3 months psychoeducation on treatment compliance. It was determined that treatment compliance of male patients was statistically significant which means treatment compliance of men was increased. It was determined that on female patients "General health perception'' ve "Mental health", on male patients "Physical functuonality", "Physical role difficulties'', General health perception''. "Vitality" ve "Emotional role difficulties" were statistically significantly.
