Özet (EN)

It is important to capture the reality of movies, special effects, games, virtual reality applications, interior and exterior designs, and many more in the field. There are many algorithms developed to capture reality in computer graphics. Many parameters such as direction of arrival of light, direction of reflection, point on the surface, wavelength and permeability of the surface are the values that are taken into account to calculate and simulate the illumination on the surfaces. Besides these, the physical properties of the materials are also factors that affect the reflection. For example, the reflection on a plastic ball with a mirror is not the same. Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Functions (BRDFs) are functions that calculate the surface illuminance and how much light should be reflected. Johann Heinrich Lambert, the German mathematician, physicist, and astronomer, performed his first work on the subject but the developed model is so far from reality that it can not represent any existing material (As an example of the Lambert model, only clay and lunar surface can be given, but these examples are not as matte as the Lambert model). For this purpose, many reflection models have been developed to achieve reality, or to approach reality to a certain degree. Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Functions- BRDFs have been investigated and evaluated in this thesis study. Key Words: Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Functions, Lighting in Computer Graphics, Lambert BRDF
